VWBPE 2026: Insights

MARCH 19-21, 2026

VWBPE 2026: The Main Event

Mar 16, 2026 | VWBPE News

In preparation for the 19th annual Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education conference, we announced the theme Insights — and issued a challenge to the education community. “Show us,” we said, “high-impact strategies using AI, XR, and emerging tech; creative approaches that spark engagement and elevate learning; research that uncovers new insights into virtual and immersive environments; bold experiments, breakthrough methods, and challenges worth discussing.”

The community answered — some with ideas to share, all with a spirit of play, exploration, and discovery.

And now we invite you to discover what awaits.

This year’s program brings together an extraordinary lineup of presentations, keynotes, workshops, demonstrations, quadrivium sessions, Above the Book discussions, posters, and immersive experiences that show what we can dare to imagine. Together they represent a rich breadth of research, discovery, and perspective — all focused on leveraging the power of virtual environments for education, with an eye firmly on the future.

Even our social activities go beyond networking and entertainment. Look forward to early morning coffee chats, an enlightening virtual hike in the wetlands, a magical “state of grace” dance performance, a Japanese tea ceremony, and more.

When you arrive, our VWBPE Hosts — volunteers wearing their Park Guide badges — will be ready to welcome you at the VWBPE Gateway and throughout the conference park system. Pick up your swag bag on the way in: it’s remarkable how one bag can hold Adirondack chairs, a teleport HUD, your Happy Camper attendee badge, notecards, and still weigh next to nothing.

Get an early start on the conference game trilogy, The Rock and Bone Mysteries – information about the game is found here along with the slurl to the starting point for the game. The conference regions are open now.

From kickoff through the closing dance, we hope to see you there. March 19–21, in Second Life®.

New to Second Life? The Rockcliffe Registration Portal is open for anyone registering a new Second Life® avatar and wanting to learn more about the conference in-world. It’s an educator-friendly newcomers’ region — a great place to get your bearings. The conference regions are already open, so there’s no better time to jump in and start exploring ahead of the main conference on March 19.

Attend or Watch. Join us in-world or catch the live stream online. The full conference program is available here, and select presentations will also stream live; find them through our Watch page or YouTube channel.

A Special Thanks to Our Sponsors. VWBPE remains free and open to the public thanks to the generous support of our sponsors. Please take time to visit their exhibits — and those of our supporters whose contributions help make this conference possible year after year. You can find our full list of sponsors and exhibitors here.
