STEM Explorations in Studio Environments
Tundra Expanse
Lead Builder: Bluebarker Lowtide
Affiliation: VBCPS
A fun showcase of artifacts made by students to promote the Studio Model. Come see photos and short video clips of what students at the high school level are doing to create portfolio ready items and preparing real world skills for life after high school. Equally important, it gives students something increasingly rare in school: the experience of finishing something meaningful and sharing it publicly. This shift is not a rejection of creativity or engagement — it is an evolution toward purpose-driven learning. Gamification served an important role during a different moment. The studio model responds to the present moment by grounding engineering education in authenticity, responsibility, and real-world relevance.
