VWBPE 2025: TRANSITIONS
APRIL 3-5, 2025Getting Immersed at VWBPE25!
The VWBPE Immersive Experiences were started in 2015 by LoriVonne Mockford (Lorraine Mockford), to showcase locations whose main objectives were interaction, immersion, and engagement for those who enter them, whether to play a game, solve an immersive problem, or engage participants in hands-on, interactive learning. A guide provides basic instructions about the interface of the environment or platform, with time spent mainly on having the learners play, immerse, or engage with the location.
The Immersive Experiences are scheduled pre- and post-conference, to allow extra time for attendees to engage with and enjoy what they discover.
This year, all Immersive Experiences are hosted in SL. The first ones are coming up very soon: March 24th and March 31st. The remaining experiences will take place after the VWBPE conference closes, between April 6th and 11th. There are four unique Immersive Experiences this year, with some offering multiple sessions to accommodate schedules. Some may also arrange other or additional times if requested.
Don’t miss these amazing immersive experiences incorporating Transitions as we immerse and learn!

Step into the role of an astronaut preparing for a lunar mission with this immersive virtual experience. Starting on Earth, you’ll plan the essentials: how to breathe, maintain warmth, hydrate, eat, sleep, manage waste, work, and maintain mental health in the harsh environment of the Moon. Your journey continues as you dock at a space station, learning the intricacies of living in space before piloting your craft to the Moon’s surface. Once there, explore virtual Moon bases, interact with objects, and navigate through challenges using visual, aural, and textual cues. Complementing this experience, The Science Circle hosts a roundtable discussion to deepen your understanding and enhance the learning experience. This session offers a unique opportunity to engage with space exploration in a deeply interactive setting.
Innovative Tools for Lifelong Learning
When:
Sunday, 06 April @ 11:00am – 1:00pm SLT/PDT
Host:
Lissena (Lynne Berrett, Whole Brain Health)
Starting Location: Whole Brain Health Inspiration Island
The mission of Whole Brain Health in Second Life is to provide evidence-based opportunities for growth that support healthful aging. We do this by offering hosted programs and self-guided learning areas. As we keep evolving, we continue to look for ways to enrich and enhance the lifelong learners experience through both these means.
Our latest transition is to incorporate the voices of our Collective members into our many self-guided learning areas. These voices encourage and guide learners to interact with the activities we offer in each area. Our goal is to encourage proactive behavior that increases learners’ wellbeing. The feedback we have gotten has been very positive.
Attendees will visit and interact with a number of these areas, including the Character Strengths Park, Brodmann’s Brain, Simply Impossible, and Sunvibes Africa. This is a work in progress! We are evolving this new kind of immersion with the welcome help of visitors’ feedback.

Host: Jenaia Morane (Jena Ball)
Starting Location: Braided Lives
Experience the profound Cherokee philosophy of maintaining balance between body, mind, and spirit through the interactive “We Stand in the Middle Story Quest” in Second Life.
This immersive journey begins with a boat ride that introduces you to the lives of two main characters—a couple affected by AIDS. As you navigate through their world, you have the opportunity to engage deeply with their experiences by reading journals, participating in narrated nature walks, and exploring their dreams.
The quest also offers writing prompts for visitors who wish to share their reflections or stories, creating a collaborative and enriching learning environment.
Please note, the quest is limited to six participants at a time, with additional tours available via a Google sign-up form to accommodate more visitors on the same day.
Please arrive a few minutes early so you can get the player HUD and set your viewer preferences for best experience.
Transition of Nature’s Empire & Innovation Station
When:
Friday, 11 April @ 9:00am – 11:00am SLT/PDT
Host:
Host: Eyeclectic
Starting Location: NonProfit Commons
Nature’s Empire is a scale model of the Empire State Building evolving as a collaborative space for meetings, exhibits, etc., including Tesla’s Loft, an interactive educational space based on the work of Nikola Tesla, where we will be experimenting with A.I. and A.R.
Innovation Station is our Mainland parcel along the tracks of the Second Life Railroad, where we will be building the Global Phoenix Peace Fountain (reflecting the original Phoenix Peace Fountain in Coleraine, Northern Ireland, made of melted gun metal from Canton and other Ohio communities), surrounded by gardens representing various nations, and The LOVE Train with “people ALL over the world,” to help educate Canton on its potential.
Participants in this Immersive Experience will be part of a cross-worlds conversation, bridging virtual and physical space with an interactive livestream on the big screen at Centennial Plaza in Downtown Canton (pending presentation date booking confirmation), using computers and mobile app.
We will begin at the NonProfit Commons Amphitheatre, then teleport out from there for the continued Immersive Eyexperience.
