Venue: SL: Moon Base Selene Lunar Space Elevator Hub
This experience will be open to visitors until the 1st of April.
We are heading back to the Moon! “What kind of sustainable world could we create and share together in that hostile environment?” Moon Base Selene members explore this question every week as we meet in ‘Second Life’ to imagine and build a virtual Welcome and Education Center around a lunar space elevator hub within the projected bounds of current science. This future-looking, self-selecting, international, multi-disciplinary, peer-to-peer education group, consisting of scientists, educators, and science enthusiasts from around the world, has experienced many “aha-moments and meaningful connections that embody this year’s Insights theme, as we discuss topics ranging from hydroponics to the meaning of color, from in-situ resources and sustainability to the need for personal space, envisioning what it would be like to help orient and educate visitors from the Gateway II Space Station about the hazards, peculiarities, and stark beauty of life in the Moon’s low gravity environment.
Objectives:
- ENGAGE in an immersive, interactive, educational simulation of the lunar environment.
- LEARN about issues associated with living on the Moon or returning to the Earth after living there.
Accessibility: I will use a SpeakEasy HUD tool.
