Exploration of Brave New Generative Worlds
Lead Presenter: Zorreau / Bruce Wolcott
Venue: Lecture A – The Hearth
Since the release of OpenAI™’s GPT-3 large language model in November 2022, AI-driven graphics creation has rapidly expanded. Early developments centered on rudimentary 2D image generation from text prompts, followed by AI video synthesis and text- and image-based 3D model creation. With the release of Google™’s Genie 3, AI can now generate navigable 3D worlds that emerge in real time.
These immersive environments are increasingly used in simulation systems, including those designed to train robots for autonomous interaction in real-world settings.
This presentation surveys these developments, focusing on creative collaboration with AI as an intelligent partner for ideation, problem-solving, summarization, and artistic exploration. Demonstrations will include co-creative workflows using tools such as Marble Worlds, Nano Banana, GPT-5.2, Arrival.Space, and Midjourney, along with a brief discussion of emerging AR/XR/AI wearable displays and their educational implications.
Objectives:
- Participants gain applied understanding of co-creative AI for visual, 3D, immersive learning.
- Participants are familiarized with AI simulations, virtual worlds, and spatial computing tools.
Insights Connection:
Participants will 1) gain applied understanding of co-creative AI workflows for building visual, 3D, and immersive learning environments, along with 2) increased awareness of AI simulation and XR applications. Aligned with the Insights theme, the session looks beyond tools to examine the challenges and opportunities facing educators amid rapid technological transformation.
