Many of you have heard the call, and the call is drawing to a close on January 17, 2016. For those of you who have not heard or heeded the call, you have days left – hours – to submit.

Have you represented your virtual world yet? VWBPE is an event for showcasing best practices in virtual worlds. Virtual worlds. This is why VWBPE has been hosted in Second Life and in an OpenSimulator region. This year, VWBPE will take place in Second Life and AvaCon Grid.

However, we feature other virtual worlds through our immersive experiences. If your work is in Second Life, present in Second Life. If your work is in an OpenSimulator region, private or public, present your work in AvaCon Grid. And if your virtual environment is on new frontiers, let us shine a spotlight on them, as well, by letting us play in them.

Represent your virtual world.

By last count, the OpenSimulator regions and the educators that inhabit them have been growing by leaps and bounds. We want to see you present your research and your projects in AvaCon with us this March. Our participants want to see your virtual worlds, want to envision what is possible, and it is innovators like you, the pioneers in virtual frontiers, that can show them what they can do. The impossible is only possible if you show what can be dreamed.

The call for proposals in the academic and communities of practice categories ends January 17, 2016. The call for creative categories – exhibits and machinima (deadline extended!) – ends January 31, 2016. Take advantage of the extended machinima deadline to submit your artistic vision and inspire our participants.

Our virtual worlds communities are filled with enterprising individuals. If you don’t have a project or research to showcase in a proposal, consider using your knowledge and experience by volunteering for us. As the call for proposals ends, our call for volunteers begins. We need you.

Heed the call.
