Machinima Guidelines

This year’s VWBPE 2016 Horizons Machinima Showcase is committed to highlighting the BEST OF THE BEST in machinima/animation, by honoring both the stories worth telling and the special production techniques that set these cinematic and artistic films apart and exemplify their power and use to transform, educate, and inspire viewers of all ages and all cultures.

The purpose of the VWBPE 2016 Horizons Machinima Showcase is to share innovative, creative, and interesting machinima/animation productions created for educational purposes and/or by students of all ages. All accepted submissions will be posted on a VWBPE Livestream Channel for attendees to view during the conference asynchronously. Viewers will be invited to leave comments and discuss the machinimas with others during the conference. A variety of machinima submissions will be highlighted during the VWBPE Showcase during the conference to feature some of the most unique, interesting, artistic, technical, and creative forms of expression during the VWBPE Machinima Showcase.

Submission Process

All forms of machinima are accepted regardless of when they were completed. You must own the rights to submit your film. Your submission must include a link for us to view your content online. If accepted into the VWBPE 2016 Showcase Festival we will need to be able to link your machinima film to our website for viewing.

Each entry will be reviewed/screened by at least 2-3 committee members for the different submission categories, production value, and creative use of machinima media. If approved, your entry will be placed in the VWBPE 2016 Showcase. The review committee will also select entries to highlight and show (either all or a portion of the film) during the VWBPE 2016 Machinima Showcase.

Please note this is NOT a contest. The purpose of this event is to share, enjoy, and learn from each other.

We will notify you if your machinima entry is accepted into the showcase. We are proud to be able to recognize the effort and talents of educators and students, and we appreciate the opportunity to view cutting-edge projects and films. Thank you for submitting your machinima to VWBPE 2016.

ALL SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE NO LATER THAN JANUARY 31, 2016

Your submission should include a description of what the machinima is about, as well as its connection to the track.
