The horizon of education in today’s society is both multi-modal and multi-dimensional. Learners need to tackle not only the thin edge between knowledge and wisdom, but also the integration of technology, perception, and social interest that binds critical and creative thinking. The problems that the next generation of learners need to tackle will require a broad range of skills and expertise in order to communicate social narratives in a way that captures the imaginations of those around them.

Proposals are currently being accepted to the 2016 Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education Conference within the Creative Category for both Exhibits and Machinima. The VWBPE Creative Category is for those who wish to showcase their creative works in virtual worlds through artistic expression in order to promote their organization or achievements. These are not presentations in the traditional sense; exhibits are builds and machinima are films, both created in virtual environments.

Exhibits and Machinima offer a unique opportunity to showcase the horizons of your group or organization’s creative capabilities to extend the dialogue with your peers beyond simple discussion. Whether it be in K-12, Higher Education, Games, Tools, Simulations, or other best practices in the field, the Creative Category will enable you to network with a wide range of participants interested in many of the same disciplines as you are.

Machinima proposals are due no later than January 10, 2016. The complete machinima guidelines can be found at http://vwbpe.org/presenters/guidelines/machinima. If selected, expect your machinima to be shown during the conference and on livestream.com.

Exhibitor proposals are due no later than January 31, 2016. The full exhibitor guidelines can be found at http://vwbpe.org/exhibitors/exhibit-at-vwbpe. If selected, expect to set up your exhibit in Second Life before the start of the conference; it will remain on display for the duration.
