Identifying with your favourite superhero is child’s play!
The VWBPE Social Committee brings you the first Social Networking Fundraiser January 11, 2024. Our first theme for 2024 invites you to come as your favorite superhero. The list is endless!
Do you connect with your superhero’s superpowers or maybe with their underlying principles and moral compass? Maybe you like DC icons like Batman, Superman or Wonder Woman. Or maybe you look to the darker side with DC Vertigo comics and the characters of The Sandman, Lucifer, or Constantine. Maybe Marvel heroes like Aquaman, Carol Danvers or the X-Men have you flying through the air. Maybe you are an Image Comics fan and see yourself as Cyblade, Spawn or Zealot.
Or maybe your superhero is someone special to you. A person you admire, look up to, who has helped you out, a librarian, a scientist, a teacher, doctor, or creator?
We look forward to seeing who you pick! The fundraiser will be at two times on Thursday January 11, 2024: 11:00 AM SLT and 5:00 PM SLT.
Whether it’s the embodiment of hope, the triumph of the human spirit, or the allure of fantastical abilities, we look forward to striking a pose with all you superheroes out there! Come dance, play and save the world with us!

Be a Superhero at VWBPE 2024!
The 2024 Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education Conference is excited to open our Call for Volunteers, and WE NEED YOU!
Our 2024 Conference theme is Mythic Origins, which is truly in touch with where we are right now and gives a definition for our amazing Volunteers. Mythic Origins invites us to focus on our story and cultural heritage and how it has evolved, helping us to step up to the challenges we face and how we are creating new opportunities to adapt and improve. At the conference, we will celebrate the problem solvers, creative planners and true innovators that we are.
We are proud that the conference is By Educators, For Everyone, and is open without cost for registration, thanks to our wonderful sponsors and amazing volunteers.
As I return to leading our Volunteers, I want to share how grateful and gratified we are to see volunteers returning each year to contribute to the success of the conference. I’m Elli Pinion and I’m joined by Bluebarker Lowtide, who will be training and leading our hosts and DeeDee Beaker, who is helping with volunteer communication this year. We are especially pleased to have new people joining the teams. There is strength in numbers, and the saying, “many hands make light work” is virtually true!
We invite you to join the Mythic Origins team and make this 17th annual conference the most exciting yet! This is a wonderful way to make connections with people in the virtual worlds education community.

Minimum time commitments are 1-hour shifts. Training for volunteers will begin in early March for most positions. One of our team will contact you with information about training, schedule signups and volunteer activities that you will be invited to attend.
