Education, as in most things in life, is about the journey, not the destination. We look to the horizons of our awareness and strive towards those distant shores of challenge, opportunity, introspection, and self efficacy. Education is about being dynamic as both an individual and a member of society. The learned person is one who engages the world around them through positive affirmation on the road to self discovery. We interact with those around us as both teacher and pupil in a complex dance that enriches everyone.

The Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education Conference provides three opportunities to showcase your horizons and the course you are setting in mapping the waters of education and technology. While the call for lectures and workshops has now closed, you can still submit to these categories and be part of the conference.

Thinkerer AwardTHINKERER AWARD – The Thinkerer Award is presented to an individual whose deeds and actions have shown consistent selfless service towards the promotion of learning, community, and educational practices, and who exemplifies the spirit of cooperative development within immersive environments. The award is for lifetime achievement rather than for a single contribution. This is your opportunity to recognize those individuals who have captured the imagination, lead the charge, and helped others along the way.

Thinkerer Award Nominations are still open until February 7, 2016 by going to http://vwbpe.org/at-a-glance/thinkerer-award.

Machinima, VWBPE 2012MACHINIMA – Machinima offer a unique opportunity to showcase the horizons of your group or organization’s creative capabilities to extend the dialogue with your peers beyond simple discussion. Exhibits, VWBPE 2014EXHIBITS – Exhibits provide an opportunity to show people who you are and what you are doing through the creation of 3D poster exhibits. Allow people to walk through your virtual business card showcasing what your organization has done this past year, where it is now, and where it plans on going in the future. Get one on one time with visitors to answer questions and show people the horizons you are aiming for.

Exhibitor proposals are due no later than January 31, 2016 by going to http://vwbpe.org/exhibitors/exhibit-at-vwbpe.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Our virtual worlds communities are filled with enterprising individuals. If you don’t have a project or research to showcase in a proposal, consider using your knowledge and experience by volunteering for us. As the call for proposals ends, our call for volunteers begins. We need you.

Heed the call.
