The Welcome Reception is the place to mingle before the “Meet Me At The Crossroads” pre-show. When you think of “crossroads”, you have to think Eric Clapton! Nobody plays it better than Eric. As a tribute, Lightning Productions will present cover artists performing the tunes of Eric Clapton, the Yardbirds, and Cream at the opening concert. “Black Tie and Blue Denim” is the suggested dress code at this event.
The stage is now set for the opening keynote presentation of the 8th annual Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education Conference.
Interspersed throughout the conference will also be live performances at The House @ Blue’s Corner Pub with tunes by Grif Barmaisin, Scarlett LaRoux, and Lightnin Lowtide for your dancing and listening pleasure, and informal dances on the Chilbo Education Sim in Second Life, in AvaCon Grid, and at the Mango Yacht Club in Second Life with DJ favourite Coz Okelly.
The Quill and Quarrel Theater Company will present “Almost Maine” on Friday evening. This is a formal, black tie event. Join us on the red carpet at the reception before the live theater performance.
For World of Warcraft veterans and first-timers alike, the Inevitable Betrayal Instructors will host a Retro Raid World of Warcraft Social, US, Cenarion Circle, Horde Faction, Sunspire at Sunstrider Isle. The VWBPE15 Machinima Showcase will show 38 remarkable machinimas playing continuously at the VWBPE Drive-In. These machinimas include both short and feature-length films, digital stories, documentaries, tutorials, trailers, and game-play videos. A panel of experts will spotlight some of our favorite clips during the Machinima Showcase.
A Scavenger Hunt leading enthusiasts through some of our favourite virtual education sims offers a chance to win more than 5,500 Lindens in prizes. Wend your way through the Exhibits area in a Cross Country Bike Race, play virtual games at the Gateway, take your picture with your friends at the Abbey Road photo booth, and explore the Independent State of Caledon while on the Caledon Quest Hunt.
The closing concert will feature tribute performances of the music of Eric Claption and The Dominos, again with the suggested “Black Tie and Blue Denim” dress code.
