SUMMARY:Preserving Our Ability to Create from Scratch
DESCRIPTION:Lead Presenter: Marly Milena / Niela MillerVenue: Workshop A – Rock TheatreWe will play with our ability to create— sometimes using the technology of Second Life and sometimes playing with non-digital materials at our work stations. We will explore the difference between turning over tasks of creating to machines and maintaining our original creative processes, and why this distinction is important. We will look at hybrid experiences where we assess various tools and what they do for us and for others. How are we personally affected by these experiences? How does this influence our teaching and learning? What would we need to stay connected to our humanity and the ability to survive? If possible, please have a few markers/crayons/paint available in 3 contrasting colors, along with some drawing paper. Objectives:Participants will be able to be more selective about when to use tools based on purpose and results.Participants will be able to strengthen enjoyment and satisfaction from original creative processes.Insights Connection:We still have a choice about when, how and why we use digital tools and AI in the process of creating and learning. This workshop offers a chance to compare insights gained from creating ideas ourselves, collaborating with virtual tools, and handing our ideas over to AI. After a few experiments, we will ponder the difference in our human experience and why it might be important to retain our ability to create and pass this on in our approach to education without depending on advanced tools.Accessibility: I will use a SpeakEasy HUD Tool
